Bumped Off With Virgin :)

I went on holiday for a week to Dubai. I turned up to the airport to get my flight back to Heathrow yesterday and the Virgin rep came up to the group of 9 I was with and said, "we are over booked and would you all like to stay an extra night? We will pay for your hotel and all food and drink. We will also give you a return ticket for free to anywhere in the world, except Australia

We all took the offer, got an extra day in 35 degree sun and I now have got a free flight with Virgin.

Has anyone ever had this done to them?

Where should I use the ticket to go to?

I once got the option of standing down on an AA flight for £500 of flight vouchers.....wasnt an option to take it at that time though or i would have.

With a ticket offer like that, I would go for Japan. I went there some years ago and found it a fascinating mixture of old and new culture, and stunning scenery.

Friends of ours had exactly the same happen to them except it happened two nights in a row so got 2 nights paid and 2 tickets for both of them anywhere. I don't think Virgin fly to Australia.

That's good of them! I'd be picking a very far away place ive never been. Although I would love to goto the US again!

When I went to the states, they had over booked the flight too (expecting cancelations/no shows) so we were asked to wait till the next flight in 4hours, and got bumped up to first class
