Echo CS-8000 worth fixing for firewood use?

Is a old Echo CS-8000 worth spending around £100 in parts on for bigger bits of firewood?

It's in good condition apart from the bits that aren't...if you follow.

Need something bigger than my 50cc saw for bigger bits that are coming my way...

Is it decent or shite?

Just had a quick look on a US forum and the big torque is mentioned . One other thing is they said it would cope well running an 8 pin sprocket which will give a bit more chain speed without sacrificing the torque ( bar length dependent )

If it's anything like my old 6000 that died due to wrong mix from a muppet, then it will have amazing torque. With a sharp chain it will be unlike anything else when cutting big rings- like a knife through butter. However, this is mainly due to the weight of the thing!

a definate YES , its my fave saw,

lots of power, lots of torque, strong casing and build , only downside is its a bit heavy

I even use mine with a large bar and in a Alaskan mill.

a great saw !!
