He was too incompetent to realise that reverend sir just call me Tony was slipping out the back door just before the proverbial hit the fan.

He was also too stupid to realise that his Tonyness was letting him deal with the mess because he knew Grumpy Gordon would make such a cock up of it that we'd all forget how useless Blair was.

That said, when Gordon and his wife lost their child I thought he behaved in a most dignified way and I felt for him a great deal, it was something no one should have to deal with.
