Drax in Yorkshire are building a new biomass plant. They might take it all. The road miles will all add up though. But if they've been bringing stuff down from Scotland mileage doesn't seem to be an issue.

I believe T5 is biomass powered from LHR's own burner, the long-term plan being to supply all the airport's power from it.

You could always put in your own efficient biomass plant rather than the conversion of coal dinosaurs.

I think most chip for the drax plants will come from Canada, as they can source constant supply.

importing woodchip from abroad? i can tell you thats going to open the door to all manner of ilegal shipments, and is ridiculous on miles alone

Maybe one of their suppliers couldn't supply cheap chip anymore, since harvesting firms were getting consistently ripped off by them

Th south east desperately needs a dedicated high capacity Biomass plant. There's no shortage of chip.

Fingers crossed something will get sorted soon, in the short term the price for chip here in the south has dropped by 80%
