Mixture of freehand and 2 in 1....the 2 in 1 is great for when im carving be ause it's a quick turnaround after I use my saws to detect metal hidden away....but you can't best a free hand edge. Plus there is s degree of pride from free handing (unless you've got +9ft of 3/8" to sharpen), then it becomes a "2 brews & 3 fags" job!!

Freehand on blunt chains and bench grinder on any mullered chains.

 

Common fault on many chains hand sharpened is that the cutter angle gets more acute as it is easier to file the end of the cutter than the hook.

 

Had one of these in Friday and showed the owner what the line was for on the top of the cutter:001_rolleyes::lol:

 

Still - it was a lesson for life:thumbup:
