insurance cancelled

Recommended Posts

One of the things you'll have to do before hiring a solicitor, is have a look through the fine print. Most motor insurance policies state that if a policy is canceled, the whole sum is payable immediately and in full. Since you have already paid in full, they may have a case in writing, that allows them to keep your money. I'm not saying it's fare, just that that may be the case. Insurance companies like banks, are a law unto themselves. If they can get away with it, (and keep your money as well) they will. And the law will back 'them' to the hilt.

Insurance companies, like banks, aren't in their business to do you a favour. They're there to make profit for their shareholders and fat cat bosses. And if that means flogging you over a barrel, they'll happily do it and sleep soundly.

It might be in its contract but it doesn't make it legal. They will often try their luck. Send a letter stating clearly that you want your money back minus the 4 weeks. That you intend to take it to fsa and have instructed your solicitor to ready a casefile citing mis-selling of the policy to you and breach of contract.

Go in hard, watch them back down

They don't sound trust worthy to me. I use northern alliance brokers.

Spam bot alert.

Unless you have anything of value to share with the forum, be gone.

The origin of the spam isn't important - thanks for the heads up

It's spammy because a Google search of your username combined with that of your broker reveals that you've historically posted similar content on other forums and comments pages. At least you're not a bot :D

:001_huh: Unless its a new super bot!!:001_huh:

Why not contact the Insurance Ombudsman .

Insurers are trying to make money. If they can fob you off with white lies and you accept it they are laughing. You will often get told lies (oh yes you do) by ill informed representatives, or go-betweens who dont want to lose their commiossion if a policy is cancelled.

Usually the mention of the ombudsman can lead to the company suddenly remembering that they CAN refund your premium, especially if THEY decide you are not insurable as a result of an oversight on their part at renewal time.

I have worked for insurance companies in the past (IT and business areas) and they have been known to say things which could be mis-interpreted - allegedly.

They sent me a recorded letter saying I had 7 days to provide them with proof of trading and insurance for the digger for road use? i don't use the digger on the road so i was not going to pay for it to be insured to drive on the road.

on the 6th day the brooker phone me and said why have i not sent in proof of trading i told them i would not be insuring the digger for road use and they then said the under righters have ok,ed my insurance i have in place for the digger. because it was on the 6th day i didn't have time to send in proof of trading. i had already set up a new policy else where.

about 3 weeks went by and i got a letter from the insurace company saying i owed them 50 pounds cancellation fee. i did not reply to the letter another few weeks pasted and i got another letter saying it had been past on to there money recovery team. i then had a phone call off some jumped up cow saying i owed 80 pound and i would go to court and have ccjs.

I had a solicitor who we do work for send a letter explaining that no money would be paid and they owe me.

not heard anything for a good few weeks hopefully its sorted.

thanks autonet
