I didn't think the ZZ self tended anything like the SJ.

Guess it depends on what height your climbing at, rope diameter and technique, plus bridge harness length. If your using a tree motion and haven't adjusted your bridge I can imagine on the standard setting it sits pretty far away so when limb walking back in it tends to drop low making it hard to feed it in.

I've been using the SJ for over a year, it was OK, better than a prussic which is what I had used for the previous 19 years, But the SJ was by no means perfect and was very annoying at times.

 

I've been climbing on the ZZ for just over a week, IMO, the ZZ is great!!, it does every thing I want, it 100% consistent, it self tends really well, descending is very smooth and instinctive, its just like using a hitch, but without the need to tend.

 

The ZZ is the best bit of kit I have bought since my first Hiab.
