Paul, a lot of it is how you feed it into the zigzag. If you just beast your way up the tree hand over hand, then unless you have a good amount of rope beneath it wont self tend. If you slow it down a little and make a conscious effort to pull the rope smoothly and straight, directly inline with the top of the zigzag you'll find it self tends far more willingly.

 

I see what you`re saying Steve, i think it may be because im used to my slightly stiffer/slightly tired XTC 13mm. still trying to get to grips with the width and flexibility of the BT. Practice makes permanent.

I love my zig zag my background is in aircraft engineering and having Bein involved in engine component testing and repair we fly around the world on parts that I wouldn't fit to a bike so I have total confidence in my zig zag and I may only be a part timer but still love it already

Sorry i meant when i used my 13mm with the SJ. it was stiffer so easier to thread through the SJ. Fell out with it so reverted back to HC before i got the ZZ with blue tongue. Just have to keep at it and im sure it will click and ill wonder what all the fuss was about.

nd the addition of a pantin can make it even better on longer hauls

Personally I feel comfortable using it still just make sure krabs are aligned properly but i think it may have to sit in the bag for a bit.

 

What do you guys think?

I received this email also and I will carry on using,

I fitted rubber gromits to my krabs a week or so ago anyway, makes the whole thing neater

My oval carabiners are connected by a petzel connector also with rubber gromits....I'm happy enough using it:)

No offense intended gents, but when Petzl says don't use... Thats enough for me to go back to tying a hitch..
