Today lifting pollards we had a lady walk straight through the work zone on her phone , oblivious that there was even a person in the tree.

Having headsets would be perfect for situations like this .

I use walky talkies with an aux out lead that connects to the aux in on our ear defenders (plenty about but Howard Leight/Bilsom are the best). Microphone clipped onto your collar. Walky talky in top overall pocket, so minimum of cable tangle (could be an issue up a tree, but fine on the ground)

Total cost about £60 a head including the ear defenders. This setup will also work with your mobil phone and microphone/headphone lead if only need it once in a while.

I've used the Arborcoms quite a lot with Pete McTree in the past and they are awesome in the right situation. When I'm inside the crown working roadside and visibility is impaired. Pete can let me know with astonishing accuracy when to let go the next branch to wipe out the cyclist that has just run a red on the traffic management

We use radios on bigger job. Just a normal set of four with a kit for motorbike helmets. Only £15 from maplin i think. Not the tidiest of set ups but work great and everyone can hear what is going on. They are great especially and make life so much easier. You dont have to wait for someone on the ground to come back round from the front garden before you can get there attention. Also means your groundy can take a look from miles away to point out any missed bits rather than backwards and forwards.

Cant recommend radios enough!
