Got to agree with the below; everyone's going to say Husky 550xp. Yes it goes well, feels good. But there are alternatives...

Think out of the box.

By focusing on just the two best selling makes and ignoring the fact that at least one of them is f****g up badly you dismissed an other brand.

After 26 years of faithful sawing with Stihl I swapped my MS 460 for a Dolmar 7900. Being so happy with that saw last year I also turned in my MS 260.

The saw that came into my van was the Dolmar 5105. That saw showed me one thing crystal clear. Being the best seller obviously depends on mayor advertising budgets and loads of customers that are not willing to think out of the box.

Don't even consider your first choise and forget the second. Go for the Dolmar 5105 and let that little gem amaze your in tems of power to weight and ease of daily service.

Think out of the box. Don't take my word for it. Search the web and you will notice only positive things. Don't let Stihl and their advertising budget blur your objectivity.

Now whilst I actually prefer my 460 to the 2 7901's I had; I have waxed lyrical about the Dolly 5105 on here! Not available in the UK??? Well yes they are... if you can be bothered to look. Parts? You can buy 2 for the price of 1 550...

PS-5105 :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

That's the little beauty in my avatar.

OK

A bit of advice please

We have had 2 ms261's and both have had issues almost from the start.

One has been fixed and turned out to be a good saw.

Unfortunately one of the lads left it on site yesterday (dodgy housing estate) and it's gone. Not surprising.

What should I now do. Stick with Stihl or go Husky again. And if I change back which saw should I get. I've been away too long.:confused1:

5 brand new ms261s were bought when i was working in the forestry,always issues with them..:thumbdown:
