maybe do a poll? what % want it and what % dont, personally im quite happy as i am but wary of things that might 'marginalise' me if i dont sign/pay up. I realise its done with the best intentions but really dont think its needed, essentially all we do is cut bits off trees, it doesnt have to be complicated

Agree with most of this (especially the end)

It is not hard to see the the good intentions of the scheme, its what many of us have directly and indirectly been asking for. Jaimes quote above is sufficient in its own right to justify full support from the industry.

Having met both Jaime and Paul smith in person, even had a few beers with em, I can assure anyone of the septics these guys are lionhearts and bust their balls for us hairy arsed types.

Jaime, carry on regardless, this sounds great and if it delivers all it suggests the future may be a lot better for aging old dogs like me!:thumbup1:

Tony, thank you for your kind words of support and encouragement and you are right our best intention is to serve the industry and make it a better place for all to work...and to further marginalise the unscrupulous ones who cause so much damage to trees and undertake work for silly money which undervalues the professional service you all provide.

Cheers, n have a great weekend "oh wise one! (YODA?)"

Paul

PS Did I get my round in or do my usual falling over n need to get to bed trick

They don't seem to get the real point. Tree work needs to pursue excellence - not the pursuit of legislation & collection of arbitrary certificates.

However, It will create a two tier industry & alienate those involved, but they must know that already..............

They just don't get it do they?

Why are these people continuing with such a hopeless endeavour? Anyone here ever heard of marketing myopia? it's when a person or a group of people have deluded themselves into believing their product is amazing and everyone should use it, when in reality it's rubbish.

Listen up R2 whoever you really are, YOU'RE NOT GETTING ANY OF MY MONEY FOR YOUR POINTLESS SCHEME

and if anyone else involved in treework has any sense they'll give this quango a very wide berth

another cost to the employer on a financial scale and also man hours... Seem to be plenty of men out there with certs that they should not have as have been passed, so to introduce more is a waste of time.. only big companies that pay crap wages can absorb these costs.. Just get the current system right!!!!!
