i'd still avoid using petrol personally mate.

I know mate, I suppose I should really since I'm sure it does no favours whatsoever to the rope.

I just aint found anything to really get rid of it, will try a few ideas from here though :001_smile:

Either that or stay away from conie's, yeah that sounds like the best solution for me :001_tongue:

Use nothing except warm water. I,m amazed at the answers so far, petrol, detergent and jet washing :confused1: I thought it was common knowledge only to use warm water.......in anycase i,ve never cleaned a rope in my life. What a waste of time.

Warm water wont get rid of resin mate.

You will know about it if your rope gets covered in it.

Do you really think I dont know what it,s like ? As soon as you move away from conifers it,ll clean itself. Like I said, "never cleaned a rope in my life". But if you,re happy with petrol then so be it.

I guess a serious issue with not cleaning ropes, be they climbing or rigging, is that more often than not they will have the very high risk for being a vector for transferring fungal spores, disease and pest eggs from one Tree to another.

With this in mind, I suggest it would be good practice to be aware of the potential of this occuring and take on board that it may not only be woodchip and paycheck, that you take away with you at the end of the day.
