On the way to the local supermarket I pass the Derian House childrens hospice and everytime it makes me think of the poor children situated there, and how scared I would have been as a child in their situation. I presume the vast majourity of the kids understand their own circumstances to a degree.

Welcome to Derian House Childrens Hospice - Derian House Childrens Hospice - Registered Charity based in Chorley, UK

I have therefore decided to donate the full selling price of the remaining net bags of kindling I have to the hospice. We have produced circa 22,000 bags this year and I think there are 5000 - 6000 bags left in the warehouse in Wigan. I am therefore hoping to raise £5000 (£1 a bag for a 4kg bag).

All bags have been indoors 1-4 months and were due to be sold in March.

The only cost that will not be donated will be the price to cover the delivery / carriage.

A pallet of 64 bags delivered locally (within 30 miles of Wigan) will be around £30 a pallet and £18 for a half pallet if deliveries can be grouped together.

If several pallets are sold in one area say Yorkshire then again carriage can be kept low.

A pallet of 64 bags will be approx £55 for carriage nationally.

A half pallet of 32 bags should be approx £35 for carriage nationally.

A photo ofa pallet is shown below.

I am going to speak to the hospice on Wednesday and find out the easiest way for buyers to transfer payment to the hospice and if a seperate payment will have to be made from buyers for the carriage / delivery.

Another idea was for arb suppliers to sell on the kindling from there stores and make even more for the charity or even a secondary charity.

Please show any interest while I find the easiest way to organise the whole infrastructure and I invite comments to see if I am going about this the right way.

Thanks,

David Riding
