We have a SWB 3litre commercial which was a reps tow tug for 4 years then it got given to the service team to use. It had a rake of problems early on - all engine or injectors, all sorted under warranty. The good folk at Heritage in Leicester told me that even though she is 10 years old, underneath is very clean and mechanically will last another 10 with no probs. They also said that engine probs usually get sorted under warranty despite age due to all the original hassles. Otherwise, they cost what they cost!

Engine out to change the clutch? Best way in any vehicle in my opinion. 1.5 hours to get a 200TDI lump out of the front of a 127 I had years ago!

I have had more Isuzu troopers than I care to imagine , had several 3.1 and loads of 3.0 dohc , I have a 3.1 at the moment , the 3.1 is one if the best engines Eva made , the 3.0 is great when working or untill it's done a bit of work to many problems if I'm honest

7y3yvavu.jpgthese have a 3.1 in them and they did them untill 2004 as the trooper was only untill 1998

Well I absolutely loved mine when I had it and would get another

I had a 3.1td bighorn

Would like a hilux. The thing with these motors is to find one that hasn't been abused and that's not easy with this sort of work vehicle.

Try and find one with 1 old lady owner :001_tt2:

+1 since top gear tried to kill the one they had they now hold there price and those who have them do not like to part with them. so second hand ones fetch good money. but its a good truck. saw a chap with a VW asked how he found it big pick up only a 2ltr engine in them so lack of puff shame needed a 2.5ltr at least for size of truck.

i like my nissan but only as it has a new engine in it and would only buy one if it had the records to show it had the engine replaced or modified.

other thing is double cabs the passenger room is so small need to be a escape artist to get in and out. do not know if the king cabs are bigger in back.

our pickups get bigger like the usa trucks but room in back is poor. need to take a leaf out of the usa market but without a 5ltr engine
