The farm is over run with rats atm :thumbdown:

 

Any tips or stories to tell ?

 

I have 2 terriers and plenty of shooters but Its not something I've done alot of so any advice would be cool:thumbup1:

 

Rat bait isnt an option due to barn owls and other birds of prey.

Yeah a good torch mounted on a small air rifle. And open sights. Any sort of telescopic sight won't work. And you will have to be quick.

 

Claymore ap mines work really well. Just get a little bit of damage after to clean up but works well.

we used to have an old chainsaw with no blade and a pipe off the exhaust which was long enough to get to ground level when holding in a standing position and running the machine on a rich oil mix smoked the rats out to the dogs.

have a search round and see what these babies do!!

 

bit pricey on the gas but most enjoyable.

Try to locate as many of the nest as possible a dispose of the young, the adults will be looking for the kids and that should be easier pickings of the balance.

Elg, really do you think there will be rat parents wandering around wringing their hands (paws) wondering where their children are?
