Gas bill when you have a log burner

she was brought up on a farm & watched her mum mucking out the fire every day ,so kind of put her off any thing in that line

Tending a woodburner in the house is a lot of work and mess, we had indoor wood burners for the first 5 or so years of married life, but it was messy and a lot of work, plus the house was alway cold in the morning.

An outdoor wood boiler gives you all the convenience of gas central heating without the cost.

I no longer have to split logs, no mess in the house and the radiators are too hot too touch, even first thing in the morning.

5kw stove in the front room fans in the loft draw warm air to the ends of the house. cost £400 for stove £150 for fans and insulated ductwork. with wb using about 8 cu metres of wood we use 1000 litres of oil without wood burner 2000 litres plus. but front room is 27deg rest of house 24 deg too hot for blokes. Empty the tray in the wb every 3 or 4 days.

I have just added up my gas I'll for this year, £1500 ish!

I have a 2 bedroom semi detached and that's with a log fire heating 2 rooms.

I keep meaning to get a log burner installed, I wasn't going to bother with radiators as we have a combi boiler, and have heard that can be tricky to work together. Although I have heard of a centraliser.

Your thoughts please and an idea of your gas bills would be appreciated if you don't mind sharing:001_smile:

HI STEPEN MATE our gas 4 years a was £6/700 a year that was far to much as in our house gas is a naughty word mate we now have a EURO HEAT STOVE 16KW and our gas bill is less then £275 a year and i think thats to much get a good wood stove stephen and you save £1200 a year as our house is a large 2 bed house thanks mate jon
