How prepared are you ?

It is a fact that supermarket shelves would be empty within 3 days if our network of roads came to a standstill. It is a fact that the sun is entering a period of increased solar activity increasing the chances of emp's. Floods and severe weather all show how vunerable we all are. What are you doing to safeguard your family should the SHTF, ?

I have built a faraday cage with spare radio,batteries and other electronic equipment.

Nothing, however I saw a a documentary about American butters who call themselves ,prepers' who devote their entire lives to that sort of thing. It also included a guy who made his money getting paid to train said nut cases, was quite amusing.

2 months of food and water, spare meds, lumber, rope, candles, food supplements, many sharp things axes and hand saws, fire wood and extra matches. Won't bore everyone with means of self protection for myself and family.

Dont know about all that. Saw a trailer for a program the other day where a bloke reaconed that if the electricity system in the UK shut down, half the population would be dead within a week.

Again dont know about all that - seems a bit extreme to me, but it was interesting a few years ago to see the effects of the blockade of the fuel refineries. Some people were clearly struggling with the concept of not having petrol and you would have thought that a lot of people would have factored it into their lives with regard to where they live versus where they work etc etc, but of course it has been business as usual since and in fact in our area, commuting has sky rocketed.

Its a funny old world and I think we are in for interesting times within my lifetime anyway. Theres going to be a lot of adjusting to be done life style wise in the not too distant future.

The sooner people get sensible the less dramatic the changes will need to be. Its not rocket science and there are those on here whose grandparents or even parents in some cases, were coping quite happily without all the mod cons.

Personaly lived in places during my youth with no electricity and a water supply from a mountain stream.

Its surprising how little we really need to survive - most of the 'stuff' we regard as essential these days is just the result of marketing.

We just need a change of mindset and a chat with the old folks while they are still around to teach us a few of their tricks.

boiler stove can also cook on it so heat and food well will just hunt for food also got a huge fish tank so lots of unclean water but needs must lol

Perfect...boil it up, it'll be alright. Plus you get to eat the fish as an added bonus

Ted, just wondering what future uses you envisage for the easy lift - could kick of a whole new marketing strategy here, although bearing in mind my post above, best to keep it practical :lol:
