    Bio chain oil

While were on the subject of oils what would any of you reccomend me to use in my new 461 it will be on the shelf odd times for up to a month so dont want to use oil that gums oil am I find sticking with standars chain oil
  4. The governor has put it down to a bad job keeping my buying on a budget ah well you only live once
  5. Ive done well I normally go double over budget with anything I buy ive got around 10 tonne of logs to cut up so will be put to use straight away
  6. Just a bump I went and ordered the ms461 yesterday managed to get it for 750 with the 20" bar should hopefully be here on tuesday
  7. Thats about what we use a year luckly enough im young enough at the min so will keep swinging the axe but will be interesting to see what is recommended
  8. So in Theory then every 20 full working days you will save £1000 to me at that cost its worth using standard unleaded with mix. The money you will save will by a new saw the rest of money saved will be great and keeping manufactures, business etc turning over with sales of new saws or parts. I fully understand that additives and alternative supplies like this are good and do less harm but at the end of the day every thing boils down to the cost and until it is cost effective most will keep using unleaded.
  9. If youre bed is as rotted as the one in the pictures you minds well end up getting a new one by the time were done we would have constructed vertually a new one but the cost of labour will most likely out weight a complete new one. If there are only certain secitions which have rotted then thats no problem full new sheets/pannels can be constructed to original size and gauge. I take it these are rotting so quickly due to being loaded with wet chip all the time I know the older solid steel ones were bad but no where near as bad as that in the picture. also try looking out for a alloy bed
  10. We do all sorts of fabrication work if you wish to send me pictures of what areas are needed for repair I can give you an estimate
  11. It all depends on what you want but tbh for us I wanted a stove that was a little over kill for the house we have a villager A stove all parts can still be bought for them but do make sure you get one with a stainless boiler unlike mine where I had to cut the top off and make a new one with the stove being over kill its mainly just on tick over for a 3 bed house and 7 rads and more than enough hot water on tap. Also you need to think about what you are using for fuel we mainly burn wood so a larger stove is a good idea as its easier to load the wood and doesnt need to be cut up into little lengths.
  12. I certainly think so as well, the people who have them seem to think they are brilliant. Will look into that thank you I do have my usual trousers and PPE which I believe is class 1.
  13. I said a few pages back asking is it worth putting the extra money to getting a new ms461 to which I didn't get a exact reply so I did lots of searching and decided to put the extra cash towards it. But if you do know of any where I can get on for less than £500 that would be awesome cheapest I've seen up to now is just over £750, But will nip in to my local dealer and see what they can do.
  14. So after doing a fair bit of reading I've decided to go with a new ms461 its seems the 460 and the new 461 have many followers. Thank you all for you help.
  15. Thank you yes I would prefer a saw that has parts available and pretty well known over here its not a case of not being able to fix the 051 its was a case of I was half way through cutting my current stock and the saw started playing up with a quick inspection it revealed nothing so needed further investigation leaving me stuck for the day and as im a builder I don't have much spare time these days so when I do get a day free I want to spend it cutting so as said im just after a back up saw but tbh the 051 will become the back up saw.
  16. For my fire wood every year I just search around and see what is selling but I am finding it harder and harder to find reliable supply of fire wood these days as I cut and season it my self. I am ideally looking for some who can supply logs freshly cut I can collect them from site or from your location as long as it isn't miles away form the Barnsley area say for instance a 20 mile radius. I would be looking to do a deal on a price per transit van load and looking at between 10-15 van loads per year this may increase as its to run two houses this doesn't have to be all at once just as and when you have enough to fill the van. Thank you
  17. I see the ms460 has a good following would it be worth putting the extra money in and buying a brand new ms461 or is it a case of the new saws are not built as well as there preaddresses.
  18. Thank you for the reply I will look into them. On another note I forgot to add is I don't mind if its second hand
  19. Hello every one been a while since I was last on I've been using my Stihl 051 AV for home use and its been running great but has now decided to play up while half way cutting my logs up so I have decided to purchase a second saw for back up purposes. The spec for the new saw. It will only be used for my own personal use for cutting logs for my fire wood so for instance once maybe twice a month but will be run all that day. It will need to be able to cut through logs up to 24". It needs to be pretty reliable/well constructed and have a good reputation. Any advice is much appreciated. Thank you .
  20. Hello I have a stihl 051 which has been running great, when I got it I replaced all the usual hoses pick up vacume etc and fitted a new plug and its ran great but I came to use it the other day and it will start up and idel fine but when I come to rev it the revs will build up but then before it hits its full rpm it seems to bog down and the stutter on the odd occasion I have tryed this it has cut out aswell. Any ideas before I start stripping it your help and advice would be much appreciated. Thank you

At the moment the saw is running brilliant but if in future i do need new internals the 111cc route sound very intresting does the 051 carb work with it or will i need to get a 076 carb aswell. Thank you
