  1. Hello every one as some of you might know ive just bought a stihl 056 as some thing to keep me busy repairing once i have it fully up and running i would like to spruce it up but im unsure on what to use for the high temp parts like the exhaust cover which is white can any one reccomend some thing please. Heres a pic of said part Thank you
  2. Update time removed the cover for the bar today and the ammount of crap that was packed in there was unreal so cleaned it all out and then inspected the sprocket to see if it has binded luckly it hadnt and was lovley and free also the teeth were in nice condition on the sprocket so this then left the bar when i removed the bar it was packed full no wounder the cain wouldnt move freely also all the oil holes were blocks so after a good rake out and then blow through with air the chain now turns freely i deff need a new chain tho as i noticed two oif the teeth have been riped off so now on the hunt for a new 25" chain the bar didnt seem too bad the chain fits nicley in it with only thing i had to do was file around the edge as there was a lip. The exhaust has seen better days but should do me fine for a while also managed to find a production date and was made in 1978 so not bad at all for a 34 year old saw. Once ive got it mechanically sound i would like to spruce it up a little what paint would any one reccomend for the white bits espically around the exhaust housing.
  3. Thanks spud will update later with more info

  6. Im unsure on one thing tho on the 051 should the chain be free to move when the engine is off, as when i was going to sharpen the chain its wont move at all it runs freely when the engine is running and throttle applied but not when shut off which i thought it would do as it doesnt have a brake or is it a feature of the clutch
  7. Just gave the 051 a good look over and clean today most pipe work and filters were fine but found a tear in the pluse/vacume pipe so gave it a quick repair untill the new hose comes

  10. Heres what would be ideal to fit inside but on a smaller scale
  11. Best way to do these are using water jackets inside the stove you will need to strip your stove done and see if there is any room to be able to fit one if not looks like you will have to buy a boiler stove
  12. Yeah im really impressed with it just need to give it a good going over now
  13. So roughly around 14m3 and the question is how much is 10t of cordwood
  14. Yep they certainly know how to waste time and peoples money
  15. You have hit the nail on the head by the word "recommended" working for local council for many years we have done many installs and dig outs for repairs/new pipes we have asked the same question over and over again and they only reply you get is we recommend it to be at said depth but its not fixed in stone. Also gas board have to attend the breakage within 4 hrs even if they dont fix it straight away
