as fungi goes, its deffo one of the pretty ones!..always looks like it would be quite tasty..not that I'd fancy trying the stuff myself!:001_smile:

As I understand it it is, though not one for the faint of heart I suspect:001_smile:

I take it from a bit of refresher reading that in general once the fruiting bodies start to show in this sort of size on a beech its almost always a death sentance by saw or by wind sending it crashing down, shame as this could be anouther mature street tree lost and never replanted.

Nothing special about the host but the fruit i find quite impressive, I've been coming back to this tree for 4 years now around this time and always a good display.
