hi mark, i put alot of screws in and have for years used the ryobi 18v combi drill, the 3 speed one is the best but since they went green (aimed more at the domestic market) ive now gone to the AEG and its brilliant. i can put in 2000 12g 4" screws in somedays plus use alot of big washer head spax screws and it'll drive a 400mm 8g> great drill at half the cost of dewalts etc

Use the Mikita one before and put some 6 inch screws that go straight into brick walls no problems. Also used on 6 inch screws into post and rail fencing before with no problems at all. Well worth the money.

 

Of course it's also down to what screws you use aswell. The gold self pilot screws are awesome aswell. These ones. Pricey but worth it.

Got told by a rep the only reason they went green was so the machines stood out more, like the dewalt and it would catch peoples eye first.

I was led to believe that ryobi, Aeg, milwalkie (sp) which are all the same company was pitching the ryobi at domestic market, aeg at semi professional and milwalkie at professionals. As said I've had the ryobi for years and still have one but I did find when they changed to green they didn't last so long, maybe just a coincidence.

cant speak highley enough about the makita kit. cordless li ion 3amp 18volt stuff is magic. get a set with both a drill and impact driver in in and you cant go wrong.

a bargain on ebay is the Bosch 14.4v at £60ish - lots about, dont be scared of by 14.4v - its a great battery and only £20 for a new one, cheapest in town

I gave up on Bosch because of the price they charge for replacement batteries. This is something I would look at closely if intending to use any cordless tools professionally.

Mark you want an impact driver - and you will really really wish you'd bought one earlier in life!

 

I've had x2 dewalt 18 volt and x1 makita 18 volt.... not much to choose between the 2.

 

Use them all the time. They ratchet things in with massive power but without slipping.
