That's quite unusual to see an included union in an old plane like that. Plenty of the new stock trees planted (in bristol) appear to be full of included unions.

I'll let you know the outcome. With a road on one side, and new part of a hospital development proposed for the other, I think I would take it out.

Back in the woods today on a half blown clear fell working next to a harvester cutting root plates and dropping the oversized and incredibly heavily branched edge trees.

That's a 372xp with 20" on top.

Willow take down from this week, we were told about the stream but no mention of the 7 phone lines! Mate did the climbing and I was on the rigging.

Drill picked up lots of decay around the bottom brace , not holding my breath it won't shatter in the next storm but it's a better option than completely mutilating with a heavy reduction or felling.

Hi Iana ,Drill bit , rods and the eye bolts all came from tree stuff , unfortunately no one in the uk seems to sell invasive supplies any more !! Cheers ,mat.

I'd have shortened that bolt if it was me Matt😉 bit of an eye opener than one. Top job mate. Nice looking reduction. Good to see some other forms of remedial options too.
