Lucky enough to be assisting with the inspection of the trees in Northwoodcemetery today and there are over 20 to be felled. Learning a lot about the reasons trees must be removed and the vicar told me an amazing story,  In 1941 four explosive bombs were dropped over Cowes and two exploded in the cemetery. The bombs were so powerful that the debris from the explosion was fired through the surrounding trees. It remains there today, I’ve added the footnotes andthe tree with the fence post is behind me but covered in ivy at the moment ?
