Technically not today's job, storm damaged beech on Wednesday.. was dark when finished and a miserable day so no photos of the finished result, had to be a hard reduction to stabilise the remaining stems, homeowner wanted to retain the tree which is always good! Yesterday's Ash removal, restricted roots and a worried neighbour, all wood stayed on site. No chipping. Big thanks to William who has the balls to climb these things for me, while I keep my feet on the ground!20181220_093817.jpeg20181220_105730.jpeg20181220_132749.jpeg20181220_150437.jpeg20181219_111709.jpeg20181219_112019.jpeg20181219_112039.jpeg20181219_121708.jpeg

Quick video from Wednesday. Fir (not sure) removal and a few stems. Customer scares me. He's up cutting on a ladder and bow saw. He had removed the tops of the stems.

Thanks, don’t think I’ve ever taken out a decent size one.

Back in ‘95 I had to “tip thin” a similar looking one in central London when I was as green as the leaves and way out of my depth, had all sorts of issues finding a reasonable anchor point.

I was crapping myself and the stoned groundy couldn’t start the chipper.

Funny the jobs you never forget.

I'd much rather cut one down than tip thin any day [emoji6]
