A crock of whatever, arboriculturists are able to advise on tree matters because they have the knowledge, otherwise why hire one in the first place if this guy was so clued up!

Pete started this thread called "would this offend you" so people could comment, I have commented, given my reasons why it offends based on arboricultural knowledge and your whingeing about it?

If anyone is woried about potential damage to reputations etc dont post pictures and ask for comment

I can see that there is some " growing up" to be done on here!

One of the first parts of growing up is to understand that just because someone disagrees with us does not make them the enemy

Discussion is just that, we can all be right, or wrong, sometimes both. Opinions are like backsides, we all have one. Pete knew this would attract criticism, as would anyone who knows their trade. But it does show that this job is not set in stone. Yes, we can all have a standard that we wish to attain, but at what cost sometimes? Yes, we can attempt to "educate the client" but he will still have done what he wants done, it's his tree, and his money, if you don't like it, move on to the next job, and the next until you find someone who will pay you for the service you wish to provide.

The question I'd be asking myself is would I accept the job based on the requirements of the client in this case, that is to save the tree if possible, even if it goes against better judgement. I think I might. Would I dare to post it here for all to discuss.... I doubt it.

The 2stone weight difference between Pete and myself must be in his balls, he must have big kahunas to start this thread.

Well, been back onto site today, almost 3 growing seasons on from the start of this thread.

Yes, the tree is still alive, yes it's caused some conversation on site, but the client is still happy to see the old girl still there. Is this good justification for doing what we did? I'm thinking more so now than back then.

For those who are just reading this for the first time, there's a few pages of comments before this, but sure worth the read.
