advice on big saws

395xp or 3120.

395xp is more versatile as the 3120 is very heavy.

 

Second that . I have 3120,395 and 390 . The 3120 only comes out if absolutely necessary . Its on a 50" bar so hopefully once a year at the most . The opther two I am happy to pick up any time .

I would look again. I got pulled by saying this and f r jones (as an example) was 1100 for saw and bar.

 

Don't know about husky as not had much exp using them. Stihl ms660 maybe. The 880 is a big heavy saw to lug about all day.

Another for the 395 ... Great saw never let me down apart from my user error!! :blushing:And even then it still ran.

Fair point. That's why I have said about 660,

 

Checked f r jones and the 880 is 1161 incl vat with the biggest bar. That's actually not bad if you've looked elsewhere. But then as with stihl policy over selling saws I guess fuel costs would have to be added going to get it.

Lol aye, a mate ha one and charges an extra £100 straight away if hes has to use his 880 since its drinks fuel like a fish

I'm also in the market for a bigger saw. I don't really want to buy an 880 or 3120 as I think they would be left in the shed and only used very occasionally. I recently had use of a 365 with a 24in bar and chain. I was impressed with how the saw coped with the large bar (albeit a brand new bar and chain). Although I would usually buy Stihl, I think I might go for Husqvarna for my big saw. I think I will either go for the 372 or the 395.

Here we go.... I'd recommend the Husky stables 576xp, or wait for the 372xtorque when that's released, supposed to be the bees knees. Larger than that? Do you really need larger? Husky 395xp will do everything else you'll ever need, poky pouchy zappy and the proper colour for a saw

Or a Stihl 066, poky punchy zappy saw that will do everything you ever need, and also the proper colours for a saw. see unbiased me

Why not hit the middle then ---390 . Its like a slightly bigger 372 with almost the power of the 395 ?

I just checked out the specs and the 372 will take 28 inch bar. It is also significantly lighter than the 390 and 395. Is the disadvantage of additional weight outweighed by the power gained with the bigger 390?
