Newbies do often have a lot to offer if we get to no them welcome themnand understand them.......I've seen many a newbie made to feel like a ****, why because they haven't had chance to understand some of the big characters on the or had experience on forums to understand the way they work

Ok, I'm not going to embellish this. When a thread roused attention, it is not usually because of who the OP is, it is usually the TOPIC, not the OP that decides it's fate. I try to ignore who is posting, but take it on the value of the content. This way I try to moderate in a fair and unbiased manner. If the thread goes the wrong way, it is dealt with in a manner of ways, deletion is rarely used. On this particular occasion, two different mods dealt with the thread simultaneously, without discussion, in the best interests of the forum, not in order to upset the OP or anyone else, but to keep things on a even keel. When members sign up to the forum, they agree to a set of rules, if they don't wish to follow them, then there are plenty of other forums they can choose to frequent.

I noticed last nights thread and took a while to put together a carefully worded response. By the time I pressed go I guess it had been pulled.

I have, and still get, massive value from the Arbtalk forum. Whether its fungi, kit choices, working methods, humour from the lounge and the lunges, it works for me. And now I understand why Huskys are better than Stihl. :001_tt2:

Challenging threads have their place and also add value too. It can provide a wake up call to those who maybe need one, and educate others who maybe haven't been exposed to situations discussed. I've read a good few on here.

But sadly last nights thread was poorly started. A better explanation of circumstances to start with might have got things off on a better footing and the thread may have stayed alive and the subject explored further.

I would be surprised to read of someone who doesn't get value from Arbtalk.

You got that post 95% right there. If you changed a little bit (stihl are better than husky) it would have been 100% correct and well written.:001_tt2:

I agree with this my point being a poorly started thread is often a case off lack off experience on forums......
