these are great ideas, and even though they seem expensive, looked after it will last you 10years, but it is the whole weight issue as Steve said. Am i right in thinking that American pickups are allowed to tow a serious amount more.

Its all well and good BUT it would be interesting to know what the nose weight is on the towing hitch with the trailer unloaded & the crane in its transport position, as the 2 sections of the arm would almost counteract them selves when folded back on them selves along the length of the trailer but the base & kingpost + extra chassis steel-work would put 50% of its mass on the tow hitch & the rotor & grab ~30% of its mass, if the nose weight was >150kg then even land rovers couldn’t tow it so it would only be of use to tow behind trucks above ~5t. (there are very few 4x4 that can tow 3.5t with a nose weight above 120kg)

 

also why is it seemingly OK depict it on the back of a something that can probably only tow 2700kg MAM when it’s a 3500kg MAM trailer?
