when you come to insure a Vehicle and they ask you the standard questions , you get to the one where they say "has the vehicle been modified in any way?"

Well it started life like this.............

an unloved MOT failure, after a session or two with the grinder and a bit of getting jiggy with the miggy, it looks like this..............

Still a work in progress, the tipping body is next, as time permits, meanwhile its just back from a faultless MOT and strutting its stuff.

To date it has a Salisbury axle to get up to the 3500kg bar, the chasis has been extended to bring the wheelbase up to 130 inches, the cab has had a ragging to bring it down to a maxi cab and a tool locker added behind the seats.

Looking good, make sure you put pictures of the finished item on.

My friend and I were having a discussion on the way down to the APF about Land Rovers, both having owned them for over 20 years although I now have a Ford Ranger, and decided when the Discovery came out they should have developed more commercial versions - not just the van but a pick up as well and then it would have had the benefit of a Defender but the comfort of a Discovery. Then Land Rover may not have been left behind in the pick up market.

Looks very nice,The insurers will have a hissy fit.

Not really, they wanted to see an engineers report because I did the work myself, that set me back £100.00 plus VAT as a one off cost. The premium came in at a shade over £500.00 which is only a little more than I was paying for the defender 90 despite the disco having double the insured value. :thumbup1:

I finished a bobtail range rover pickup off that a bloke had started and wish I had,nt sold it:thumbdown:

I drive an old 1984 suzuki sj410 and it breaks the ice with customers as the first thing they normally say when I pull up is how clean it is for a 28 year old truck.

Im sure customers will admire the skill in the conversion and have a greater confidence in your abilities and attention to detail, the effort will no doubt pay you back 10 fold.:thumbup1:
