Are logs worth doing anymore ?

Our daughters boyfriend, whose father has recently installed a log burner, reckoned, in conversation this afternoon, that it is cheaper to sawn buy lumber from a sawmill, or building trade supplier, than bagged firewood, volume for volume.

So there should be money in firewood logs:lol:

This may however, be unique to the Bangor, Co Down market.

Could he be right?

Maybe but the log snobs will never go for that. :laugh1: I am always looking for cheap saw timber to put through our kindlet.

I think a lot depends on your location, this is my second proper season and i am doing well and most importantly love the work. Even when its pissing down with rain, which is most of the time recently!

There is a lot of doom and gloom being written in this thread, but not all of us are experiencing this.

HI WINDFALL your right there mate this thread is doom and gloom AND THATS NO GOOD AT ALL:thumbdown: jon

Found a guy who set up last year doing arb work selling logs at £70 a load, cash. 95% hard, and his load was a farm trailer load delivered with a tractor, guess at least 2 cube, all nicely cut and split in a 6 way. Only down side was that it was a bit green, maybe 25% MC. You have to think why?, he is only a young lad and presumably has not done much market research.
