Iv been reading alot of books recently and although i feel i am learning alot, i wonder how you guys have gained the knowledge you have. Is it from books alone or education aswell, maybe seminars. The answers you guys give on this forum baffles me as to how/why you know the answer in such detail.

Thanks in advance

All the info you ever need is there to find and retain either from books, internet, asking people questions, debating... The worlds is an open book willing to give up her information to those who want it

Some books, Some people I have had the privilege of working with, some from some years of working with trees & my own observations, & last but not least reading some posts written on these very pages by very well informed in tune practitioners of the art of arboriculture.

Every day is a school day:001_smile:

Cheers for the input guys.My problem is that iv been the most experianced guy on the team/company apart from the boss, and i hardly ever see him because hes pricing or doing office work. Therefore i cannot enhance my knowledge through conversation, even though this is by far my best learning method. In 2 weeks ill be leaving my current company and working for a crew of 16+ blokes so im hoping im guna learn alot from them.

Im thinking of buying alex shigos modern book of arboriculture. Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance

Try to find the time to look at trees one year after you cut them....You'll be amazed at what you see.

Hopefully one should not be amazed but have a very good idea of the outcome which is for the most part planned and dictated!

but he makes a good point.

Your more than half way there fella, just having the thirst for it is often enough to ensure you get there.

Come out on a few Ancient tree forum meetings, attend the annual BMS meetings both are free!
