Do you believe in Destiny? was we born with an agenda?

Recommended Posts

Ok following my flippant post at the beginning, I don't really know the answer. I don't know about destiny, or written in the stars or any of that. I know that when I was I'll, I had to make a choice, I could chuck it all in here and then, and get a "proper" job, or I could push on and use the "force" to motivate me back to health and back "in the saddle". The easy option was to get out, use the system, maybe get a job in Lidl or Tescos, sod that!! Marks point is a good one, I didn't wish to become one of those people who "used" to do tree work either.

Nice choice Andy, when I lost my father in january I nearly walked, couldn't find my head... would have been the single biggest mistake in my life and I tell my dad daily on my morning drive that I made it back to the trees.

yes thats what I am talking about, thats YOUR buzz, but what made it so?

i had a little think.... so here goes...

When I was very young 3 maybe 4yrs, I remember having one of those rollercoaster toys, where the cars went up a conveyor belt, then back down the track.

The next memory is one about 5 or 6yrs old, it was meccano set which you built a crane, with wheels, pullies and cable!

I am an engineer at heart, sorry if its not green enough :laugh1:

No apology needed! this is my point, I think we know what we WANT from the day we can walk.

One way or another, we end up doing those things, even if its not in the industry, we find a portion within an industry that "suits" those aspirations.

I started the thread because i wanted to hear how others came to be, what inspired them what drives them, its turning out to be a great set of stories.

I have found myself staring at the same tree i pondered as a boy, now as a man, with the answers to the thoughts I pondered on! just thought it was a bit well, like I was drawn back to a long unanswered thought as if to solve another of my childhood riddles about something in nature that puzzled me so.:thumbup1:

I'm not sure about destiny.

This industry must have one of the highest rates of people who try it, find out they're not cut out for it, and quit.

We have all met dozens of blokes 'who used to do a bit of tree surgery'.

Maybe the elite (and I would certainly include Tony in this, and definately not myself!) were destined to do it. God-given skills in the canopy!

I'm in it for the hot chicks and all the drugs.

lol, dont know if I cut the mustard enough to be that these days!
