Hi guys,

 

It's for the insurance renewal for my discovery 2 commercial, I'm looking for a company that'll cover it for both commercial use and for mods. I've tried a few places already, some will cover the mods, or the commercial use but only one will do both! And they're looking for £1,150.00 for the pleasure, that's with 6years ncd on this policy.

 

So who can you recommend to try?

I'll give the nfu a bell tomorrow I've tried a few landrover/ modified 4x4 specialists and Adrian flux offered me £1,151.00... Hoping to find better.

 

If I wasn't insuring it for commercial use, then I'd only be looking for £400 for the year

Evening. I seem to have spent more time than I'd rather winching myself and others out over the last few months. As a result my winch cable is looking a bit ropey (sorry for the pun!) I'm thinking of replacing it with rope instead of wire. I'd welcome people thoughts on what to go with. Cheers

Give rufftraks a call if you want to get synthetic line, I've replaced all 3 of mine and the 1 on the rb has had some serious punishment over the last two years and is still fine, getting a bit fluffy so might replace after the winter is over and less salt about.

Swapping really is a good idea for safety, easy of use and losses a good chunk of weight on the nose of the vehicle.

Synthetic ropes are really meant for self recovery so they are static (Ie they aren't moving over objects) whereas wire ropes are ideal for all winching jobs including winching logs and recovering others

I got some cobra bracing sheath and put it onto the rope so it it's running over anything it can run through it to protect it, ours has had plenty of unsympathetic treatment and lasted fine.
