I guess this is the right place to be asking since I'm in the market for a 300tdi disco....

What should I look for when inspecting a possible disco? I know rust is a issue, but where exactly? I know about the boot floor, bulkhead and arches, but more help would be needed :)

I keep thinking of selling mine after buying a Disco 3, PM me if interested.ImageUploadedByArbtalk1416076831.261619.jpg.d024461cb725301cf5429ebbc611d93a.jpg

If it's a 5 door, check where the rear doors shut as any rust there is close enough to the seatbelt mounts to fail the MOT. Though that piece is a doddle to replace, it could be a good bargaining point.

Driver's footwell seems to rot out too, or did on at least two I had.

Chassis, mate of mine bought a minter, the body is perfect, but he had to replace the rear quarter and patch a lot of the rest for the MOT:thumbdown:

I've not had a V8 Defender, but did have a V8 Discovery 1 and found that on gas it was no dearer to run than a Tdi Discovery, but had a lot more go about it. Towed really well too, but mine was the 3.9 EFI so something like 180hp

One thing I did notice though with mine, was that it had a bit less power on LPG than it did on petrol - it might have been the type of LPG system but on the whole it didn't bother me much as you could always flick to petrol briefly if you needed full power.

The biggest thing I found was a PITA with the disco and the LPG'd subaru legacy we had, was that the tanks get in the way and generally are quite small (or really take up space).
