130ft redwood climb help

Right some one I work for is getting me to do a visual tree inspection on a redwood. 1st branches are about 80ft up. They want me to spike and flip line up and just after some advice on yousing a flip line on a trunk that's around 7ft+ in diameter.

Im told also the tree is squedualed to come down with a crane and that will also be my 1st crane job so any advice on that would be handy.

I'd try & set a line high in the tree. Easier than spiking & learning how to roll the flip line up a large diameter stem, caan be exhausting

If you can rig the branches out first leaving the trunk for the crane it makes things much easier, sounds like a great job for your first time with a crane.

Enjoy yourself not the best to climb if it's coming down why inspect it?

Two flip lines and long gaffs if you've not spiked one that size before

Ideally:

 

Blast a line high up with a bigshot, then climb normally DRT or SRT it. Will be much, much easier than spike and strop.

 

Or just get that 'Pilot' Old Mills used to fly close and collect data for you.......

Oh and when it comes to the crane job day ride the ball of the crane to the top.

I'd use rope instead of a steelcore if you're planning on spiking up there too, easier to roll on big stuff if you aren't used to it. Or just wait for the crane and get a lift in
