Really, piles arent that big a deal, hardly worth worrying too much about. said getting fitter and developing strength will help no end. There is plenty of potential for more serious complaints in this job, hernias and ruptures, back pain, rotor cuff injuries and many many others. Keeping yourself in shape will help reduce the chance of these occurring.

A mate of mine claimed he got them from sitting on cold surfaces for long periods, which causes increased blood flow and then the veins enlarge, is this true????????

 

I would have thought that cold surfaces would cause the opposite. Much like when you get cold hands, blood flow lessens and veins contract. When warming the area back up that could be related somehow but I don't know how

Good question, my gran always used to say I'd get piles from sitting on cold or damp surfaces, I didn't believe her and I didn't get piles but I have since heard that it may be the case, I just thought it was an old wives tale:blushing:
