The bottom most line (looks like a cut) is a mark to guide our base cut for the notch. The middle is the line and the top is the cut. I see wot u mean, but i think the camera has caught it at a weird angle.

Is it bad practice to leave stubs? leave them so my main line has something to choke on if anything should happen.

if you used your strop as well as your main line then you wouldnt need to leave pegs to catch you on the fast descent :)

Bad idea imo. One you could get a nasty poke, two don't rely on a stub to hold a doubled line on a stem. I heard about a guy who did that to get down, the rope rolled off the stub and down he came. Broken back, game over.

On a stem you should be choked on a single line, so you can get down should anything happen:thumbup1:

or suing a ropeguide or similar chocked around the stem with your Ddrt system

2 thing catch my eye u have spikes on so why leave stubs and pegs

the other is on the last pic what are the 2 lines u cut under ur back cut i can understand the top one as a guide to where u are going to cut ur back cut

and ur back cut is a fair way over ur gob for hinge wood

Was wondering the same mate,

Think hes done a logging style humbolt face cut (upside down gob)

happy customer i bet

A field maple that size is surely one for the Heritage Trees of England book!

Have you been in contact with the Tree Register yet?

I don't want to get involved in a game of big-cockmanship, but I have taken down bigger Field Maples (acer campestre) than that.

Your all talking crap anyway.

It's clearly a Pine.
