I am increasingly finding myself needing to undo very tight nuts and bolts on tractors, farm machinery and small scale kit, so Im after some thoughts on cordless impact wrenchs. Im looking at the following:

Snap on 18v 1/2" drive 4850HO/6850/7850 depending on what i can drop on fleabay (most likily be a tidy used one)

facom 19.2v 1/2" drive (new) online

makita btw450 18v 1/2" (new) local dealers

I would appreciate any feedback on them if anyone has use the above models

no comments about buying knackered kit please :lol:

I am working on industrial site at the moment and one off engineers is using the snapp on. It appears to be very powerful shearing a seized M10 bolt. He did have some problems with battery taking some time to cool down enough to allow charging but overall very impressed with what it can do and how long it lasts on a charge.

ok so the makita seems to do the work, despite being the lowest power. I hadnt come across the ingersoll so thats another one to seriously look at. Im like the fact the snap on has a higher torque for breaking the nuts of by about 35% more than all the others.

lots to think about, cheers guys

I like the makita's fast charge time and the fact that the batterys fit a grinder drills etc so only 1 charger taking up room in the workshop. TBH a lot of the time i crack a nut with a long bar then spin it off with the impact gun. good tip never take out TW blades with 1 as they distroy the bolt centre in no time and then a pig to get out!!
