would this go through a processor?

i was wondering if its worth getting a processor in to log this timber.

Do you think its worth getting one in ?

I may be wrong, but I think thats the kind of timber a processor hates....... chainsaw and decent log splitter would be the way forward.

The bigger stuff looks like it wouldn't, some of the other stuff looks like it should have been through the chipper, is there anything medium diameter?

 

And straight'ish?

its all hardwood why chip it ?

ranges from 3inch to 4ft diameter.

A splitter, c/saw and a saw bench will be the way to tackle that. Stacks, not plies are the way forward.

Processor i've used would take up to 14" but was quicker and more beneficial with 8-10" timber. The smaller stuff you could just cut to size in the processor and not need to split so it may work out

 

When it comes to bigger rings, they would be halved or quartered and dropped into the splitter part

 

So its possible.... just depends on what the cost would be in getting someone in or hireing one in yourself and your time etc...

No matter what machine you get in that is going to be alot of hard work for not alot. I would chip it for the power station You will get a fraction of the money but it will take a fraction of the time.

It seems a shame to chip it for the power station. Its a pity that there arent any piles of wood around like this whose owner could have a "pick your own firewood" type arrangement where the pickers could be charged for whatever they took. I'd go for it, but then maybe im just strange

Not strange - price dependent it would be a good thing, could end up with quite a nice load or 3 out of that.

The problem with pick your own is they cherry pick the good stuff and leave you with the filth of deal with, much better to have the good with the bad yourself or get rid of it all in a job lot.
