Just bought a pair of radio ear muffs at lidls today, came in today as one of there special offer items. £ 24.99. Also own a pair of husqvarna radio ear muffs, and rate the lidl ones better than the husky ones, and the lidl comes with three years warranty. For any one interested, suggest get them soon because they are likely to sell out in the next few days.

You can't wear them with a hard hat, which we are required to do.

No, but they'd be a good pair for hedge cutting or log splitting etc.

For helmet mount the Husky/Sordin ones are good. The old type ones lasted me 7 years beforefinally dying. Got a set of the new type ones and they seem OK so far.

I got a set of the lidl ones yesterday, they seem pretty good, very comfy and good sound quality. Only problem is I don't think they're waterproof so will have to avoid using them in the rain!

Just looked on the lidl website... I fancy a pair for when i'm processing firewood.

Any idea how the microphone function works and what its for?

There is a microphone on the outside of the muffs. Press a button and it turns off the music and plays the noise from the mic through the speakers, so you can listen to someone talk etc without taking the defenders off - seems a bit of a gimmick

This is actually quite a clever feature, as it's a bit more complicated than you think. I'm not sure what the technical term for it is, but I've only seen it on £100 + muffs before.

It plays the ambient noise through the muffs so you can hear the mrs talking, al good so far.

Now when you look at that nice pair of legs walking past for just a little too long and she starts shrieking, it turns the mike off and you're bathing in serenity. When she's all calm again it'll let noise through again.

By the way it also works with the chainsaw, ie saw screaming > mike off, saw off > mike on.

Bought two today...
