I’ve had them. Good boots. Plus screw fix guarantee everything for 12 months. If they start to fail after 11 months, go back to store, they will pull up the sales invoice from there system, and swap for new. No quibble, irrelevant of how much abuse you have given them.

I might have the chance in buying bulk bags of mostly 4 by 2 off cuts from a timber manufacturing company. There might be some 5 by 2 and 6 by 2 in it as well, all cut to 150mm long ready to put through a kindlett machine. How many of you make your kindling from similar material rather than cutting softwood bars down to size ? I’m guessing it will make very good kindling, but probably more labour intensive stacking all the off cuts on the in feed belt, as opposed to round material. How many nets could you expect to get from a 800 by 800 by 800 bulk bag, ie half a cubic metre, and what size nets would you use ? Thanks for any help.

Retired climber, thanks for the reply. With it being double skinned stainless, do they radiate much heat out the sides, or is it upwards all the heat goes ie do they heat your lower legs and feet much if you are sat around them ?

Anyone have any experience of the new style smokeless fire pits, such as those made by solo stoves ? They look smart and if they work as described would be good, but they aren’t cheap. Just wondering if anyone had any real life experience with them, and if they are as smokeless as they reckon to be.

If you are still looking for blades, I have several spare sets from when I ran this same chipper, I think from memory one set is still brand new. All in good serviceable condition. Get them sharpened by a saw doctor, don’t do it yourself with a grinder and you will get the correct angles without heating the blade up. Call me if keen on 07768 791084 and I will see what I have. Is it worthwhile joining construction line, and if so is it easy enough ? A company we do a little work for has made it a requirement to join. Just wandering if it’s worth all the hassle.

We have a fencing job coming up early next week for one of our regular clients in Virginia Water, Surrey. The job is quite straight forward, 2 straight runs of fencing, totalling 300 metres, across the middle of 2 fields so no fighting against hedges. We will be attaching equifence 1.25 metre high stock fence to the posts. As it’s out of our usual area I was wondering if there was anyone in the area able to knock the strainers and intermediate stakes in. We will erect all the wire etc. We will be on site to assist, just looking for machine and operator to knock the timber in the ground. Call or text me on 07768 791084 if able to help. Found an old photo from about 25 years ago. Had an arb job about 50 miles from home, and didn’t fancy making 2 trips. Job was in a village in a valley, and had to get towed up the hill by a friendly farmer due to lack of grip on front of tractor. It was a steady trip home.

Thanks for the reply Matthew. Not looking to get a new machine, but secondhand all seems overpriced. Been quoted £ 16 200 for kx 18 with canopy, whites manual quick hitch and 3 buckets. Not had a reply from cbl re Takeuchi equivalent. We have a kx 16 on hire at the moment, but not convinced with it, and hear nothing but good about the Takeuchi.

Just asking opinions from anyone who has experience on the above mini diggers. Which one would you prefer to own, based on reliability, quality of build and running costs / residual. There doesn't seem to be much in it on paper, but was wondering which would be your choice. Any feedback appreciated.

Best 100ish HP tractor from the 90s era

I kid you not. Have just come back from watching Exeter Chiefs beat Sarries with him, and was talking to him about this topic. His 6400 currently has 50 400 hours on the clock. Used daily, and still earning its crust.
