Hi Chaps,

Have seen a stihl 064 advertised and not having any experience of this model would like to know if anyone has used one and any pro's and cons. availibility of parts and an idea of what you would pay for one in good working condition, and also for a rough one that needs some work ( so i have an idea if i go to look at it)

It should tick all my boxes otherwise, so thanks in advance for any help.

One hell of a saw imo!

It always puts a smile on my face when i use mine! I use a 25" bar on it.

I bought it spares or repairs for 150.00

Got it home and got it running! Put a new exhaust on it and its an absolute belter!

I had to replace the front wrap handle as i broke it! but theyre really good saws, Someone told me lighter than the 066 and just a bit heavier than the 046 (not sure if its true)

I love the saw and if it did ever pop its clogs i'd maybe rebuild with genuine parts oppose to aftermarket stuff!

Think armchair arborist on here uses one also with a 30" bar on his

Can't believe how much theyre going for on ebay! 300-400 quid!

I must have got really lucky with mine :) Its cut down plenty of tree's and done a heck of a lot of ringing up!

I used to use one for milling. Pulled a 36" bar OK, although noticeably slower than the 066. Nice solid saw though - not sure on parts availability as mine eventually got scrapped (in the days before I could have sold it for twice what it was worth on ebay...)

I run 24" & 30" bars on mine and love it. Parts availability not a problem it seems as I've just put a new chainbrake handle on.

Thanks for the feedback guys, i got sent some photos after posting and it looks like its had a hard life, and then lost a fight with a sawmill, and the guy wanted about £420- 550 euros for it. which i felt a bit steep for one in rough condition.

I think it looks like the perfect model for me so if anyone wants to sell me one in good nick for a reasonable price then please pm me.
