Haha nappies are already in my kit bag! Whilst working as a white water raft guide my boss tipped a 6 stack of 12 man rafts over on the motorway. the trailor disintigrated and sheared off the tow bar. The only thing to hold up was the ratchets, £20 from halfods not too shabby. Ill get my groundie to film it and take some snaps too.

Ratchet won't do anything if it's up on the plate. Don't bore out the hinge!

How would it make any difference whether the plate is lifting or not? the straps will still stop the stem from splitting up assuming the the plate holds steady when the tree starts to go over

Yeah i did see that mate, cracking video. Like i said my original thought was to dog tooth the ash but was just wondering if there was any new and magical way to cut it. Bought a ratchet today for a bit of extra security. Looking forward to the job tomorrow. Video and pics soon to follow hopefully.

Dog tooth is probabilly the way to go, also when i do my back cut/ release cut i do a level cut an inch or so under neath, rather than the cutting from above, down at an angle
