Did my first zipline yesterday on my 41...... oohhh I loved it. I like how rigging adds more control. Annoys me when people try and do things *****! Seems sometimes the arb industry finds it hard to move on. Suprised ladders and fall arrest harnesses managed to get fazed out sometimes. Would really like some info on gauging weights though. Everyone talks about things in KG but kit is rated by KN.

Tbh ive a bit of a gripe about the training I received. Was just practical, no theory. The teacher was very old school and pretty much said guess it.

Guess the weight of the timber I'd agree with that, this comes down to experience and repetition.

Knowing the safe limits of your gear, rope angles and how this applies to the task at hand, how attachment of slings effects their strength. Peak forces and doubling of loads etc knowing this principles are important and pretty basic, you do not need to be a mathematician just a simple grasp of what you are using and how you use kit for the task at hand safely.

Ok question. I asked my instuctor if I could use a micro pulley (see pictures below) could take my weight as an anchor point (nb im note a fatty before you quip). He said no?

Ive been researching loads for my 41 assessment and from what I found drew up the below table. Rarely will a piece fall 9.81 so I erred on the side of caution and just used a multiplication factor of 10m/s.

So from what I gather I could lower max 1.5 ton on a micro pulley if static no free fall. I weigh less than a ton so surley I can use it as an anchor?
