Been to look at a tree priced it and got the job but to me something doesn't quite feel right. The tree is on the edge of a woodland which is subject to a woodland TPO. The tree is supposedly in the clients garden but the fence is on the wrong side of the tree. The clients claim to own another 6 foot of garden beyond there fence. There are no trees in the garden that have TPO's on.

The problem is I have looked at planning maps which appear to show that the outline of there property doesn't include the extra land they claim which to me would suggest the tree they want felling is within the woodland.

What would you do?

Ask the tree officer to meet you on site - explain to the client that you have an ongoing working relationship with the TO and this is the norm with this type of situation. If the client isn't happy for any reason then walk away - they may be trying to hide something that will come back and bite you.

if the tree officer isn't available get him/her to email stating the TPO status of the garden.

get the client to email stating the boundaries of the garden.

get the thing cut down !!!!!!!
