Agree with you.

it ain't that bad.

average day rate i reckon is around 300 to 400 profit.

So most of us prob make more in 3 days than the average working man does in a month...and when we are working...its all fun , games and fresh air.

tree work is an undervalued industry and at the same time tree workers overvalue them selfs.

Well said, and as you say it ain't that bad, enjoy every minute of it.

So inorder to grow a business you need to be making profit of £1500+ per week :confused1:

Came across wrong there.

What i was meaning to say - If you run a chipper, truck with all the usual overheads then going out to worka day with all that gear for anything less than £300 a day means that you will just be working every year to cover costs and a bit for profit. Ideally for business growth you need to make good profit and invest it back into the business.

Just my opinion.

Like i said i sometimes go out and do £100 jobs by myself..but i won't take the chipper out for that and it will be a couple hrs work at most.

Totally agree!!!

A two man crew with even an old truck and chipper needs, IMO, to be charging a minimum of £350 per day, start adding more men or more/better equipment and the price needs to be higher.

Isn't the whole point of a forum so you can have a good ol moan with like minds people?? If you don't like the thread you don't have to read it. There are alot of us on here finding it hard at the moment and it's nice to know we're not alone in our struggles:;)

Well said, and there is also something very British, quintessential, about having a good old moan, and don't forget there are also a large number of people who work alone and seldom have the opportunity to express there feelings, thoughts or worries about life in the industry or any other issues. I personally think ,as we live in a free society and as long as we keep within the law or rules of the forum, we should speak freely, and try not to be too opinionated. :thumbup1:

Recuce overheads, i live in a caravan, nice and cheap :)

Dont put all your eggs in one basket, i do tree work, delivery driver, and looking to invest in a 7.5ton tipper/hiab combo in the future. Works there but sometimes you just gotta go find it rather than it coming to you.

Lifes a challenge afterall, no point getting down about it :)

You have to speculate to accumulate ,as they say, and have you fingers in lots of pies, preferably steak and kidney

I agree, but is it not also the case that with forums every one has the right to give their opinion.

So "Stumpgrinder" has the right to say what he thinks too.

And we all have the right to agree or disagree with every opinion expressed

I personally believe we moan way to much.

all the negative energy spent typing and moaning..you could have done something positive for your company a in the same time.

We all think we have it hard..but we don't!! life is easy for british citizens.

I was recently in poland and was talking to my girlfriends grandfather. ( wife to be on 2nd june )..

They were telling me after the war they had to walk around with straw stuffed in newspapers for shoes. Nothing got wasted...they would brew chicken **** for vodka and they had no clothes as the germans took everything, they also all lost a lot of weight because food was so scarce. Life wa tough for them, life is tough for many aficans, life was tough after the war, Life has been about survival for as long as humans have been on the planet. ....and here we are complaining on a forum..on our laptops, iphones or ipads how hard life it.

Get a grip of yourselfs...you want business to come and make a better living? Work harder.

At least good posts coming out now!

It is a forum eg some people go on about how great landies are some say they are crap, some tree work is put up and good discussions comes from it too agree and disagree

Stump grinder I agreed and by 'Rio' that a lot of people are worse of and he has a right to his opinion and its true as commented by others

I always thought a stiff upper lip was a British trait not moaning....

but then again I'm stuck in the 50's.

Personally now I will ignore any negative sounding threads because they seem to be popular 'pulling hair', 'recession' etc and its going to get a lot worse.

Maybe there should be a 'moaning' thread in the business section.

ON a positive note I'm off to look at some informative threads now and see what I can learn or maybe get some inspiration on stuff :001_smile:
