Is it actually worth it anymore

I read this thinking, that is some serious profit every day. If you can do it good on you.

Till I read on and realised you meant turnover, your profit in probably 80-150 per day depending on fuel usage, buggered chain etc.

If you consider the average wage in the uk is 26000 per annum, minus tax which is £2150 - tax per month. Which means you need to work at least 18 of the 19 working days in the month to earn the same as the average wage in the UK. These figures do not include the time you spend quoting, mending etc which are essentially unpaid.

Just so you know.

Jonathan

I friggin wish.

Election round the corner

Tories will pump money into the economy to make us all think how good they are so they get re elected

Everyone will start feeling richer and away we go

Getting the economy moving will help with the deficit (more people in work paying more taxes)- hopefully they pump money into proper work not counting beans

C'mon guys stop being defeatest- It's too easy to doom and gloom- sometimes I think this is the human condition:thumbdown:

Diesels coming down- paid £1.32 last week:thumbup:

olympic golds round the corner

Very true, its already begun, £2B for school building!!

They were hoping things would pickup on its own, but its not working so they will have no option but to start spending more public money, hell of a gamble, but what else can they do?????:confused1:

I reckon we could get a VAT reduction before the election :thumbup1:

In my opinion a VAT reduction back to 17.5% would be the perfect scenario.

Would make people feel good:thumbup1:

One way out of this clamp down on the benefits system especially the disability system give more to the ones really in need and make the fat ones loose weight. Stop economic migrants coming in. Weed out lazy useless civil servants and politicians, greedy bankers etc. Put money back into needed sustainable businesses. Oh yeah I need a new processor so grants were good

I was in a doctors carpark yesterday pricing a job and this old bloke came flying in in his car, with disability badge, straight into a disabled bay and leapt out as if he were an 18 year old.

He made me look like a clapped out old man.

Deffo this disability thing needs sorting, i,m more in need than some of the scratters that are on it (-:

Since I started this maybe I should add a bit more. I don't want to stack shelves at tesco, I love working trees, always have and always will. This post was more about the constant worry of if there's going to be enough money to pay the bills at the end of the month. Which i'm sure its not just me worrying about. Currently I have no jobs booked. No Subbie work booked and need to find about £700 for end of month hence my worry, only option will be to start selling my equipment. But then we all know that's a slippery slope. Thanks to everyone who offered there support and words of wisdom

I have been in your shoes in the past, at that low point in my life I started doing Taxi driving to fill in the gaps mostly nights as the money was better, i was able to do what ever days or nights to suit me so i could still do tree work as it came in, I will say this, I was rubbish at it, but it paid off the loans. I think I only did it for a few mths over the summer when it is normally naturally quite. Good luck. :thumbup1: It kept the wolf away.

Have you tried selling your arb waste now as logs get them to season it them selves. You could offer it cheap as the timber was from jobs. Or if you dont have any team up with a busy tree surgeon and pay beer money. You will have most of the kit already you could under cut people like me by a long way as we pay top money for cord. You wont get rich but may help you out of a hole short term people are looking for bargains even the well off ones I think if they can save 25% they would go for it. Only down side is you may have to shell out for some ads.
