Well- I have known this site for some time now and clicking on Arbtalk.co.uk has become part of my daily routine. I've enjoyed arb talk and noticed that subjects discussed on here now vary widely- still good stuff

This thread is all about whats happening to me and I have decided to start it up because I've recently (5months ago) been diagnosed with non hodgkins lymphoma

which is past the watch and wait phase.

Chemo starts in 2 weeks

Frightening

Emotionally I've been all over the place but have taken great comfort from our local lymphoma support group ( first visit last week)and I'm more settled now. It's going to be an interesting year:001_rolleyes:

If theres anyone reading this who has experience of chemo or lymphoma- preferably positive- I would welcome your input

Thanks for sharing your journey. A friend of mine back home in bristol has recently recovered from this. She is in her mid 30s. I gather the treatment was very draining but she's doing great now. Keep us posted.

hey there likeit,

 

first of i wish you all the best and keep strong no ,matter how low you feel or how weak you are, its all in the brain, if you are determined and have the will to push on an past this then you will conquer it mate.......we are here for you buddy.....

 

 

secondly, having seeing my 1and half year older sister go through chemotherapy and still has one more session to get through before she goes in for an operation, she has been strong about it she has a 4 year old daughter to think about and i think that has spurred her on.....she has lost her hair but she will never loose herself....

My wife was diagnosed with this 3 months after we got married. She had a 3 month 2 weekly course of R-chop-14 chemo starting October 2007, finished it in January 2009, over 3 years clear now. We also went on to have a little girl last year, the first child to be born after this treatment [she was on the telly, in the papers & does quite a lot of radio... I had months of chemo to beat cancer ? getting pregnant was a miracle - Mirror Online

NHL is an eminently treatable disease. Stay focussed, stay positive and make sure you eat well and get plenty of rest. Going to be a tough few months but you will come out the other side.

If you want any advice Niki's always happy to talk to other sufferers and help them out with a bit of practical advice & support. [Ha! Nice to be volunteering her for something for a change!!!!] My advice, get yourself a Nintendo DS or PSP... you may find yourself sitting in the chemo room for 12 hours some days, and trust me, it's fecking boring!!!!
