What could a fairly experienced (8+ years) climber expect to get on the books in london? my girlfriend currently lives there and i'm considering upping sticks and moving and think going on the books would be the only practical way of doing it (currently self employed) I've got all relevent tickets as well as B+E driving license. She lives at wilsden green at the mo, but may move somewhere else in november, which is when i'd be considering moving.

I stayed self employEd with city suburban, loved it. Good lads with plenty of yard life if you want it. good mix of work... Productivity bonus works if you do. They have 3 or 4 yards now. They will hook you up a trial few days or week and you'll have a better idea. Good luck chief

Just had a year with City Suburban...there is a Bonus scheme. i worked out of the Stockwell yard..it is a busy yard in the morning, and the work involves a lot of very large re pollards all over central london which are all done at a very quick commercial speed (not always a good thing imo) to a very chilled out felling crew which use some very handy unimogs and stump grinding....the best money though is made on the tree planting...they cream in it during the planting season...Very large kiwi,Aussi workforce...they also work out of a Surrey yard and an Enfield yard...BUT if you,re in NW London, Gristwood and Toms would be ideal.

Don't know, loads of money, i lived in Earls Court once for 8 weeks, rent free and still ended up spending a £1000.00 a week and that was about 1987, a few years ago, mind you i have still got some good memory's of that time in my life, what fun i had  i think today , in London, its got to be £300 a day as a subi. On the books it would have to be a fair wage, how much did you think?
