Took this saw as part payment for a debt, it starts easily and runs well; does anyone have an idea of its value ?[/quote

Surely you must of had a price in mind as it was part payment of a debt, if you sell it for more than the amount it covered, will you refund the debtor?

I agree with the earlier comment. How on earth can you take anything in part payment if you don't know its value??

...unless the balance of the part payment was of such an insignificant amount, then even if you got a tenner for it the debt would be covered.

Thanks for your advice on value, got it sold this avo and made a small margin on it as well.

Will I pass on my profit to the guy I bought it from ? No. Although I do understand there is a dividing line between fair profit and ripoff in any deal.

are you lot real? your in business to make money not give it away. maybe ok in the ideal world but when you got kids to feed & overheads, would you really say "oh I made £70 on that saw, here's £50"

All he asked for was an idea of value tut tut

(now shoot me I got broad shoulders)

Agreed. If I was offered stuff in part payment for a debt all I'd be interested in knowing is if the item I took was worth more than the part of the debt it was covering. Definitely NO change! Can't imagine a finance company repossessing a car, selling it at auction and giving the debtor the difference....
